Bare minerals has bismuth oxychloride-this ingredient is in a lot of mineral foundations and it's what causes shine. It can also cause irritation too. I stopped using bare minerals and now I wear signature minerals. You can only get it online, but for me it's worth it because it looks nice all day and doesn't get shiny unless it's really humid or I'm sweating a lot or something like that. Whatever you decide, just try to find a mineral foundation with a short ingredient list and DOES NOT contain bismuth oxychloride. Good luck!

Good question, and NO - they are not all created equal!

Avon has some of the worst I've ever seen, because the color is too light and ashen. Sans the Bare Escentuals too for the same reason......I looked like a corpse in a funeral parlor after trying this stuff.

It sounds like you have a good brand - but you just need a little practice with application. Purchase a LARGE soft bristle cosmetic brush. After you dip the brush in the minerals, tap it gently, then LIGHTLY apply to your face. If you need more coverage then simpy add more, using the same technique.

Think of putting on light layers instead of a single, heavy application to get the coverage you want.

And if that doesn't give you the coverage you need, then consider switching to a liquid or creme foundation for more coverage....depending on your skin type.

As with any type of painting, the success in executing a good facial makeup lies greatly in the tools used to apply the different colors.  Some women are adept at using their bare fingers to apply cosmetics, but the best makeup brushes will certainly deliver the right effects at the right corners.

A medium sized eyeshadow brush is the best to use for a multi purpose function.  Use the side part to apply color across the entire eyelid area and the tip edge to define the eyelid crease.  Do not forget to blend and sweep to achieve a harmonious skin tone hue.  An eyebrow brush will take care of the final touches of defining the brows.

What is better MAC or Bare Escentuals?

I wear the MAC studio fix liquid foundation and it always feels so heavy when I put it on.

I use to be a MAC wearer and I loved it, but I was constantly fightin g to keep the acne away. I felt heavy and if I dare sleep with it on, I was sure to have a pimple to show for it. I have very very oily skin.

For those of you that use or have tried Bare minerals/Escentuals?

make up, I'd like to know how you like it and is it water/sweat proof?
Does it feel like your hardly wearing anything?

I swear by Bare Escentuals. I've probably spent more then half of my life's earnings on it but, I'm not complaining about doing so. The only thing I'd suggest you do is buy the starter kit, it comes with your basic essentials & it's about $60-$70 depending on where you go. Make sure it's the big box, because there is a smaller box with just sample sizes & I spent $40 on this & it didn't do much because it didn't have Mineral Veil. Mineral Veil is truly what makes everything go together perfectly, I'm not even kidding, perfectly. When I run out of it, I use other makeup because it doesn't look or feel the same. I wouldn't say it's 100% waterproof, but definitely sweat proof. What I do in the summer time is bring my mineral veil with me in my bag so I can just reapply after I'm in the sun for a while because it takes the sheen away & it's 1, 2, 3. Most people hate how much they spend on it, but I really, really, LOVE it. I've never had such good results with my face, some people notice big improvements in their skin, I didn't notice too much change but nothing worsened it. The key to applying it correctly is going to the website & watching the videos on how they applied it. For the first month I had the starter kit I just kind of dipped it in foundation, blush etc . . . & put it on my face, so it never looked as flawless as I saw other people using it. When they say "Swirl, tap & buff" that tap really makes all the difference, I don't know why, but it does. Sorry, I'm rambling, lol. But I hope you try it & love it !
