Eyes don't shut naturally when trying to sleep?

I sleep with my eyes a little bit open, so to relaxe, thats how I should keep them. But I can't keep them like that.

When I try to relaxe witht hem shut, I start to unknowingly clenching my eyelids together.

Any suggestion on how I can relax my eyelids shut?

Sleeping masks don't work.
