Can Sally Hansen's "Diamond Shine Base & Top Coat" be used to seal painted polymer clay?
I have several polymer clay charms that have been painted with water-based acrylic paint...Would the polish be okay to use on them? I grabbed this brand only because I couldn't find Maybelline's Wet Shine nail polish.
Do you usually use nail polish on charms, and you're just asking about the specific brand?
I would think if you're using nail polish on charms to be used as jewelry, that the polish would end up chipping off after a few uses.
What about using something from the "craft" department, such as "Mod Podge"? (the shiny kind)
Or, some other kind of sealer in the craft department, that would be more durable.
I've used a spray sealer on clay, and it worked beautifully!
The shine was just perfect!
The only drawback is that it has to be used in warm temps. and with low humidity, preferrably outside. If you can do all of that, then I'd go for the spray! If not, then go for the mod podge. I think you will be soooooo much happier with the outcome if you use a real sealer rather than nail polish.
Good Luck!
