A contract is to be completed in 46 days and 117 men were set to work, each working 8 hours a day. After 33 days 4/7 of the work is completed. How many additional men may be employed so that the work may be completed in time, each man now working 9 hours a day?
117 men x 8 hours x 33 days = 4/7 of the job
30,888 hours = 4/7 of the job
Set up a ratio:
n hours = 3/7 of the job
30888 ... n
--------- = ----
(4/7) ......(3/7)
n = 30,888 x (3/7) / (4/7) = 30,888 x 3/4
n = 23,166 hours
So now you need to complete 23,166 hours in 14 days at 9 hours a day.
Let m be the number of men.
m x 13 days x 9 hours = 23,166
m = 23,166 / 13 / 9
m = 198
Given that you already have 117 men, you need to add an additional 81 men.
(This all assumes that they work at the same rate as the others have in the past).
A new trend is quickly emerging in today’s street fashion. A combination between punk and scenester has slowly been making its way to bars, clubs, and classrooms. It’s the rockstar look and it’s the hot trend for this winter and spring season.
The punk look began catching on as a mainstream style beginning in the late 1990s. That’s when California style (Sublime) and pop punk bands like Blink 182 and Reel Big Fish began entering heavy rotation on MTV, magazines, and the internet.
Their look was more rounded and friendly than traditional punk styles that embrace edginess and contempt for mainstream fashion.
The punk look then redefined itself when in the early 2000s artists like Sum41 and Avril Lavigne began sporting a harder rougher image that still had mainstream sensibility. Their look was a direct (though toothless) assault on conformity and it began to catch on.
However as their popularity waned, they were replaced with stylistically softer styles as 2003-2006 has shown. Bands like the Strokes, Maroon 5, Dashboard, and others introduced a more retro refined fashion sense. Long hair and velvet jackets replaced spiked hair and metal.
This refinement began to combine itself with the retro craze that was giving rise to a vibrant scenester culture, English fashion, and the 80s revival.
From this melting pot the rock star look emerged. The goal of the look is to create an end product that has 2 distinct looks. The first is the mellow rockstar, that is what Alice Cooper or Axl Rose would wear when they go to a club and the second is to create the hard edge I don’t give a @#*& look of that performer in concert or backstage.
Creating the RockStar Look:
(All featured brands are available at FashionVault.com)
Shirts: English Laundry is definitely a must for any look. They are what holds the look together for a reason, patch tees and button down shirts that can go from refined gentleman to ruthless rocker.
Pants/Jeans: There is only 1 brand that says RockStar and that brand is Antik Denim. If you’ve ever wondered what celebrities sport when they go dancing at a club or dining at the spots this is what they wear.
The brand hallmark is a southwest feel with rock appeal. These pictures [http://www.fashionvault.com/Antik+Denim/?sizes_id=&colors_id=] say everything that needs to be said about this trendy brand.
Shoes: For shoes go with what fits your style. Generally solid darker colored shoes and boots are the way to go.
Accessories and Hair:
If you have dark hair you will be set but men with light hair should maybe dye it a few shades darker. When you are choosing your colors you don’t want to have an all black look.
Spike your hair but generally in large crests instead of a minefield type look.
Belts:
Generally you should aim for belts with large amounts of metal. Rock flavored buckles and metallic belt patterns/textures are the way to go.
A black wristband works well. Try to find one with a red or dark green logo to it to create an extra feel. Full length wraps and mini-wristguards are both fashionable and easy to find.
Now you’re ready to go out and show the world your style.
