group interview?
im looking for a job and i went into bass yesterday. the lady gave me an application and she told me to check all of the boxes on top, which i guess was a 4-in-1 application for Bass, Izod, Geoffrey Beene, and Van Heusen. she told me to come in for a group interview on friday. can someone tell me what that is? and if youve ever been to one, describe it please. like what kind of questions they ask and give me some tips please, ive never had a job and never been to an interview but i really need a job :]
A group interview is a little different than a panel interview. A group interview is usually when they call you in with other candidates and explain the positions, what you will be doing and have you fill out the online application and possibly take a small skills test. A panel interview is when there are several people interviewing you at once. After the skills tests they usually determine who they want to set-up for an interview and schedule that at that time.
I understand that you have never worked before therefore you probably don't have a resume', however you can create one that shows your volunteer efforts, schooling and any odd jobs that you may have had whether paid or not.
Questions they will ask you during an interview will be why do you think you are qualified to fill this position, what are your strenghts and weaknesses, and maybe some behaviorial based questions for example, tell me about a time when you had a conflict with a teacher and how did you resolve the issue.
The best advice I can give you is not to be nervous, be truthful and honest yet don't give them more information than you need to. Don't go in talking about family and friends. Remember the interview is your time to sell yourself on why that company should hire you.
